Hi Year 7,

Today you have been learning about Presentations, audience and purpose.

I would like you to add a comment to this post answering the following:

  1. What is the purpose of presentations?
  2. Who is the audience for your presentation?
  3. Just by looking at one slide can you guess the purpose and audience of this presentation:

Remember to leave your name so we know who has said what :-)

Year 8 - How might we use our Blog in the future?

August 31st, 2007 by mrwoodahs in Year 8 General · No Comments

Year 8,

I am hoping that you have enjoyed using the Blog today, as it is something you will be using throughout this year and next.

I have many ideas of how to use the Blog during lessons and for out of school activities e.g. homework.

I have thought of using the Blog to present pupils work e.g. a picture of their password poster on the Blog for other pupils to then comment on.

I have thought of using the Blog to post homework tasks that can be downloaded, I plan to use the Blog to host a survey/poll for our work of the week, and many more ideas.

However, I am interested to know what ideas you have. How do you think we could use the Blog? Are there any projects you think we could do using the Blog? Could you use the Blog in other subjects, if so for what reason?

I would like you to post a comment on how you would like to use the Blog in or out of school.

In order to achieve level 4a in today’s lesson you must post a sensible comment in this Blog!

Year 8 - Consequences of breaking the Blog rules

August 31st, 2007 by mrwoodahs in Year 8 General · No Comments

Year 8,

It is not nice to think that people break rules and ruin the fun and education of others, but unfortunately it happens.

When it does happen those people that broke the rules must deal with the consequences e.g. sanctions or punishment.

What is difficult is deciding on punishments that fit the crime, for example:

“If you are found to be using someone elses account to log on to the computer without their permission, what would be a fair punishment?”

Some might say “A written comment”, others might say “isolation” or “the loss of your account”.

The actual punishment is loss of your own account and a phone call home. This is a fair punishment because it fits the crime, the crime is serious and illegal and so the punishment is severe . The consequence of that persons actions are that he/she will never be allowed to use the computers again in any subject.

I would like you to suggest consequences of breaking the ‘Blog Rules’.
